Illinois Beverage Association Member Sponsors Premiere Sports Competition
Heartland Coca-Cola Employees Demonstrate Community Commitment at Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games
NORMAL, IL – Illinois Beverage Association member, Heartland Coca-Cola, was proud to sponsor the 2019 Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games. For 51 years, Coca-Cola has been a partner with the Special Olympics.
“It is so important to our company that we are involved in the community,” said Brad Harden, Operations Manager for Central Illinois. “We take pride in standing alongside the transformational work of the Special Olympics.”
Heartland Coca-Cola is the local distributer in central and southern Illinois and is a founding partner of the Illinois Special Olympics Summer Games. In addition to sponsoring the event, Heartland shows their support by providing volunteers to assist athletes during the games. Heartland Coca-Cola employees went above and beyond to show support and commitment to the work that the organization does.
“You’re looking at 6,000 to 8,000 people who will be exposed to Heartland Coca-Cola’s support of Special Olympics and out here rooting on the athletes over the three-day weekend,” said Sandy Nash, Director of Development for Special Olympics. “Coca-Cola is a founding partner for Special Olympics, and we are so thankful for their lasting support.”
Summer Games is Special Olympics Illinois’ premiere sports competition with more than 4,000 athletes and Unified Partners competing in 7 different sports, along with 1,600 coaches, 2,000 volunteers and 3,300 family members. Almost 11,000 people attend Summer Games annually. The Summer Games are held predominately at Illinois State University.
