City of Chicago Phase IV Re-Opening Plan
As part of the City of Chicago’s Phase IV: Gradually Resume guidelines, Mayor Lori Lightfoot reinstated targeted COVID-19 restrictions due to a rise in cases. These restrictions went into effect on July 24th and beverage and hospitality related impacts include:
- Bars, taverns, breweries and other “liquor only” establishments serving alcohol for on-site consumption without a retail food license will no longer be able to serve customers indoors
- Establishments without food may still provide outdoor service as they did under Phase III guidelines
- Restaurants serving alcohol will be allowed to continue to operate as long as they abide by ongoing COVID-19 guidance and existing regulations
- Maximum party size and table occupancy at restaurants, bars, taverns, and breweries will be reduced to six (6) people and includes indoor and outdoor service.
These restrictions are in effect until further notice. For more information on the Protecting Chicago: Phase IV Re-Opening Metrics Update, click here.
